01. Research

Analysing your company

We learn and understand your business through speaking to you, Google analytics, and user testing your current site (if applicable).

Creating personas

Personas are fictional characters based on research from actual customers. We use these to help focus on user experience and needs.

Studying the competition

We will discuss your competitors and study their strengths and weaknesses

02. Content

Structuring your content

We adopt a content-first strategy, which is where the design and layout fits around your content. We discuss your information architecture and sitemap, and track user journeys using personas.

Copywriting and editing

We can create your content with input from you, or edit and proofread information you provide us with.

Professional photography

We will carefully plan and create a photography brief for you outlining what needs to be achieved.

Creating and presenting custom content

We can come up with clever and interesting ways to present your content.

03. Back-end development

Managing content

We manage content using a CMS (content management system). Craft is usually used as it has high flexibility and editing control, although we also use Wordpress or Joomla when needed.

Setting up web site functionality

We discuss functionality and what is required for your website. Blogs, contact forms, event booking, product configuration, asset management, etc. are all considered.

Enabling e-commerce

The functionality of any online transactions is explored and tested early on.

Building web applications

For bespoke plugin work we take care of the whole process, from user journey mapping, to wire-framing and test processes.

04. Branding

Analysing / planning your brand

We analyse the effectiveness of your brand if you are an existing company, or plan your brand if you are a new company.

Logo design

We prepare a brief, conduct research, develop ideas and sketches, and test the ideas over different mediums before finalising your logo. Each step of the process is collaborative.

Creating application & print examples

We can produce business cards, letterheads, mugs, and any promotional materials you may need.

Setting up email marketing

We engage with your existing and potential audience using email marketing services and campaigns.

Managing your social media presence

We make sure your brand stays consistent across all digital channels. This includes your Facebook and Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Google+ pages.

05. UI Design

Designing responsively

Our design mock-ups and wireframes are presented with responsive versions. This means we can visualise the site at various sizes.

Designing website aesthetics

We produce an initial design mock-up of one page to start with using the content, logo, and branding produced in the previous steps. User testing will determine that people understand and can use the site the way you want them to.

06. Front-end development

HTML5

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) elements form the building blocks of all websites. It provides a means to create structured documents by denoting structural semantics for content. This includes headings, paragraphs, lists, links, etc.

CSS3

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) define the look and layout of content, and enables us to create visually engaging webpages and user interfaces.

JavaScript

JavaScript is a dynamic programming language that enables us to alter the document content and designs in real time. This allows users to further interact with your web pages.

Creating a style guide

The style guide will show you how most elements will look in the browser, as well as any site specific design models.

07. Testing

User testing

You assess the journey the user takes through your website and how they interact with certain aspects, helping to determine valid design conclusions.

Evaluating accessibility

Web accessibility refers to how well (if at all) people with disabilities can use your website. There are various tools we use to assess and improve a website's usability.

Cross browser testing

We test your site on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer, as well as Android and iOS browsers will be tested.

Cross device testing

The responsive design using media queries allow the view to fluidly resize for different devices. We will check and test your site on multiple devices.

Testing site speed

We test PHP caching, Gzip compression, lazy load and combining the CSS and JavaScript files. We could also look at using a CDN system (Content Delivery Network).
